Carat Vs Karat
Karat and carat are different units of measurement for jewelry. Karat measures gold purity, while carat measures diamond and gemstone weight.
Gold is soft, so alloyed with metals to strengthen. Karat measured in parts of 24. 24k is pure gold at 24 parts. Other values have varying gold purity. 18k = 18 parts gold, 14k = 14 parts, 12k = 12 parts, etc. 9k is lowest, but 14k is often chosen for style and durability.
